Recently I went to my doctor for a check-up. Complaining of the usual symptoms of a 40 something, I was surprised by the different answer I received. Ladies, haven't you been told repeatedly of the dangers of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)? How HRT raises your risk of cancer and negative effects to female sexual health? The doctor that I saw this time was "on loan" for a year to our clinic and had a new perspective. She was a female sexual health specialist in HRT.
She told me that the cancer scares associated with HRT were over-rated and as many of the "do's and don'ts" we are given from time to time in women's and female sexual health information sources and general media sources, have changed. For instance, remember we were told to stay away from butter but now butter is more healthy than trans-fat and then "don't let your newborn sleep on the back, only the stomach or side" has been changed to "only let your newborn sleep on their stomach or side"! We scurry around making sure that we are so careful, only to have it drastically change every few years.
What this women's health specialist told me I was very grateful for. The new HRT products, including Estrogen Gel, and Prometrium in peanut oil (watch for allergies though) are made much more in tune with the human body. They are not synthetic and far more compatible. I was going through some extremely nasty symptoms before I found these more natural products and plan on taking them until I am 120 years old!
The best way to find out what fits your female sexual health needs is to find a compound pharmacist. They are usually listed in the phonebook and called professional pharmacies. These talented pharmacists can made HRT compounds that fit your body, not your neighbors, not your horse or the farm pig! I think Suzanne Sommers has a book out about this new technology. Check it out and take care of your own female sexual health. Gentlemen, male sexual health can be an HRT problem too. A good compound pharmacist can be referred to from a reputable sexual health clinic. Go do some research!
